GPS and GSM Signal Strength

GPS and GSM signals are weakened by metal. Therefore, the device should not be installed in a way that the vehicle's bodywork can interfere with the signal strength.

To function optimally, the device requires continuous clear line of sight to GPS satellites. The device will operate effectively when concealed under non-metallic materials such as plastic or glass, but care must be taken to ensure that metallic surfaces do not cover the device or affect signal strength.

In approximately 95% of all customer service enquiries concerning poor signal, the cause is an installation where metal interferes with the signals.

Concealed installation inside the car (battery in the cabin)

The device has an OBDII connector that plugs into the car's port. This is most often found on the left side of the steering wheel and sometimes behind a small cover. Refer to your car's manual to find its location. An OBDII port is found in all cars manufactured after 2004.

Plug the device into the port and place it behind the plastic panels. Use the included cable ties to secure the cable so it does not fall down later and distract the driver.

  • Locate the OBD port and plug in the device.

  • Check if the device is receiving power by observing if the LED light is on. The OBD port should provide power regardless of whether the car's ignition is on or off.

  • Mount the device behind one of the panels using cable ties.

  • Note down the vehicle's registration number, mileage, and the name of the main driver. Provide these details to your manager along with the serial number found on the box.
